JD Vance Talks Potential 2028 Candidacy

    Austin Paradelas

    Feb 2, 2025

When asked on camera by the Fox News team whether he planned on running for president in 2028, it was met with a joyous laugh and an exclamation that his priority, and what works best for his future, is ensuring that he and the Trump administration do a good job over the next 3-1/2. He said, “We’ll cross the political bridge when we come to it.”

Is this the yes everyone is hoping for? Yes.  Any answer other than no in this situation is a complete, unequivocal yes. Any hesitation on the matter would lead to you telling the press that you have no interest in the matter and that you are only focused on what is right in front of you. However, a halfhearted maybe and a coy “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it” is a sign of significant political ambition. Not only do I think this is likely, but I also think it is one of the best-case scenarios.

JD Vance is the first of many new Republicans to have the best of all worlds. He has the firm foreign policy and trade positions of someone like Trump, a savvy business background that helps stimulate the American middle class, and most importantly, he has the ability not to put his foot in his mouth on live television. A man from the depths of the populace – a drug-addicted mom, no father to speak of, raised by his grandmother on federal subsidies and who has worked for every dollar he’s ever made – he’s an American dream and one that is going to continue playing a significant part in America’s future.

JD Vance is a pillar of what conservatives want – a strong leader with traditional conservative values who lacks the sometimes overly divisive rhetoric of President Trump. Thinking back to the presidential and vice-presidential debates, we ignore the first one between President Trump and former President Biden because that was just an utter beatdown. It is truly disgraceful that a man at that age and fractured mental fortitude was placed on that stage for the world to see. Hopefully, we can all agree there. Moving to the presidential debate, we saw from President Trump that flaw of giving in to baited topics like the one about having small crowds, and we also saw the patented foot-in-the-mouth technique of saying things at the wrong time, even if they’re correct. i.e., immigrants eating dogs and cats.

On the other hand, however, you saw something just as bad and what I deem evil – a laundry list of empty platitudes and positive rhetoric to guise that she was and had never been a quality candidate and had no business being there. When I say I deem this evil, I don’t say it lightly: to lie is a mortal sin, a violation of the ninth commandment. If you had two friends close to your heart, one telling you the painful truth and one a comforting lie – which of the two would you choose? This is and has always been the case with the rivaling parties – but that is another discussion.

Do not be confused, I am and will always be an outward Trump supporter. I believe it took a character from outside the box to come in and shake up the establishment and remind the political ruling class that we the people will not go ignored. I only point out these flaws because it shows just how great the person he is training to take his place is going to be, and how bright the future is with a person of such caliber at the helm.

Juxtapose the presidential debate performance with the vice-presidential debate, and there is no question about it. There is an America that we want and an America we are getting. After the vice-presidential debate, every American walked away saying, “Hey, neither of these guys is that bad. I disagree with ‘candidate x,’ but at least they can get up there and have a cordial debate without disgracing themselves or the country."

The vice-presidential debate was a call to a simpler time where candidates could debate in good faith and didn’t just lash out with nasty comments and sarcastic remarks. Americans are ready for a better four years than they’ve endured this past term. More excitedly, they’re prepared for the prosperous times to come after the pendulum swings just so slightly back, and men of dignified character, like our current Vice President, I believe, step into the role of leader of the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
